SAVANNAH – Bettie Ruth McCorkle Davis passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Hospice House surrounded by her family.
She was born in Savannah and was a Cradle Roll member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Bettie married Herb Davis in 1950 and as a military wife she lived in Georgia, Portugal, Texas, and Indiana before moving back to Savannah in 1968.
Surviving are her son, Herbert G. Davis, Jr. and his wife Jan; her daughter, Brenda Plummer and her husband Bruce; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert G. Davis, Sr. and her son, Donald Gregory Davis.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bert Davis, Billy Davis, Jay Burke, Tony Plummer, Keary Plummer, and Sean Ihrig.
The family requests that remembrances be made in Bettie's name to Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA 31406 or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
